With last week being one of the only weeks we had (and sadly are expected to have) of sun and extreme heat (for England anyway) I’m afraid to say that it may just be about time to start preparing for Autumn and Winter. But the cold months ahead don’t have to create negativity in your head but instead a positive attitude and excitement over ‘WHAT WILL I WEAR’ this Autumn and Winter 16! Well we have put together three key pieces for you men and women that are indecisive over what will be your staple pieces next season.
This Stone Island beanie is of course one of our tops picks and an obvious winter must if you want to keep your head nice and warm when the weather is ice cold. The wool knit is the ideal material for all your accessories and knits this winter. Stone Island are renowned for creating pieces that are wearable every day pieces and also super casual and the grey and black colour scheme mean it will go with just about anything and everything. A subtle logo is nice to have to create an extra something on what could just be a winter beanie.
After that jacket that will last forever, then turn to Belstaff for a jacket that will remain in your wardrobe for years to come, love it and live in it this winter as the black is a colour you really can’t go wrong with. The water repellent material makes it even more of a ‘must have’ jacket, especially in England when rain is just something we have to deal with a lot. This brand is worn by the likes of David Beckham, Oliver Cheshire and Gerald Butler so do not worry you are in safe hands with this brand the celebrities love.
H By Hudson once again bring us the popular ‘Tamper Suede’ Boots and this time in brown. Edge away from a leather boot and go for something you wouldn’t usually go for with the suede style. This is definitely a more casual boot and will perfect your weekend look to the T.
The ‘Cooney’ Ted Baker hat is the brand new accessory piece that we just can’t get enough off. The perfect item for when you feel your outfit is looking a bit simple and you need something to make it stand out. What better colour for Autumn and Winter than Oxblood; it makes us want the cold months already! Complete with the classic Ted Baker miniature cutesy bow for that girly touch.
If there is one item you have to splurge on; an item that will last a lifetime, an item that will forever remain close to your heart, then it’s this Belstaff ‘Boulder Blouson’ aviator style shearling jacket. The traditional aviator has a mix of old and new in it, with the fur collar creating an element of class and of course extra warmth this winter. This is definitely the ‘It’ jacket of 2016!
Calvin Klein gives us the dream backpack this AW16, with tassel and contrasting coloured detailing there’s no denying how much we love this bag. Ditch your usual style of bag and opt for the backpack for extra style, and room as this bag will hold all your ‘much needed’ throw in pieces.
The 90s tracksuit is something we just can’t ever seem to get rid off, and it must be for a reason; it’s here to stay. The funnel neck is one of the main ‘throwback’ looks if you wanna go back to a time when you wore the tracksuit as part of your day-to-day wear and not just for exercise of any type, but that way to wear the tracksuit is coming back to life and who couldn’t love the mix of athletic wear and leisure wear to create the trend ‘athleisure’.
To those who threw their tracksuits away thinking that they would never really ever come back into style well you are going to regret it, as they really are on the verge of a major comeback for AW17. For anyone who is into fashion you will know that whenever a trend comes around it’s usually recycled from a different year and is slightly remastered in a way that makes it different from before.
Seen on the runways of Gucci and Astrid Anderson it’s no denying that the look has now transformed into a much more sleek, high end trend whereby designers are styling them with smart trousers, over shirts and polo shirts and with smart shoes.
The trend isn’t just worn by men though and is actually supported by many of the fashion socialite such as Patricia Manfield and Alexandra Spencer who have shown their love for a trend that couldn’t be any more comfy and casual if it tried. Also seen on the runways of Chloe, Gucci and Louis Vuitton it’s clear that it’s a highly approved look.
For women the look is different, whether you want to go with a logo or no logo; a drawstring trouser can go a long way and take you from what could be a sit at home and lounge around piece to something you pair with heels and a shirt to transform and work it into your everyday outfits…maybe even to work. Throwing on a leather jacket over a hoodie can take you away from plain and simple and turn your outfit into the edgy ensemble it so utterly needs.
The crop top is one of the most iconic summer staple pieces that really and truly declares the start of a season that is full of sunshine and heat (fingers crossed). People always assume that this style of top is for the women that don’t mind showing a bit of their midriff, but with longer styles and the ability to pair with anything high waisted means that the crop top doesn’t always have to be about showing a slither of skin.
Now a days we are wearing the crop top under slip dresses and dungarees when the weather is feeling indecisive and with that said it makes it such a versatile piece for spring and summer, almost as though we NEED a few in our wardrobes.
The stripe print is a great print to wear to stand out. From horizontal, vertical, on ribbed jumpers, silk camis for night, for day, and to lounge around in the stripe is a statement piece every fashion girl owns. The great thing about the stripe is that you can have it in any form of clothing or accessory and pair with a solid colour for a classic look.
Tie Dye… one of the prints that bohemian lovers obsess over. What’s great about this print is the mixture of dark tie dye and bright tie dye to complete people’s summer looks. Whether you are looking for the ideal beach cover up or some lounge trousers to spend the day in, tie dye is a great print for those that find the floral print too girly.
Abstract can be a great print to wear when you don’t want to end up looking the same as everyone else; with floral and stripe being a popular print go for something a bit more eccentric and try a bold abstract print. Stick to minimal accessories with this print…as they say ‘Less Is More’.
This trend has been going around for what seems like forever. Starting from the era of the free spirited gypsies and hippies, fashion designers love to include floral patterns, white lace and suede detailing in their collections; especially the likes of Gucci, Alberta Feretti and Roberto Cavalli who are not shy to showcase the bohemian trend on their runways.
To wear the bohemian trend comes with a sort of relaxed, summer feeling that evokes the ideas of being a free wonderer. The soft palettes and super feminine detailing of bohemian pieces are flattering and show us the true essence of summer…think maxi dresses, sandals and fringing. A bohemian girl is someone who would never be seen wearing one statement piece but instead multiple; clashing patterns, large earrings and oversized sunglasses complete her look.
With summer fast approaching and our beloved festivals right around the corner such as Glastonbury the bohemian trend becomes even more loved as this is the ideal choice for festival goers; just think of Florence Welch and Vanessa Hudgens who wear the trend on a daily basis.
Coachella; the amazing and stylish festival in California where you can find all the top fashion A-Listers and bloggers. The stars tend to go all out; just think denim, layered necklaces, bohemian mixed with rock vibes and the cuteness of florals and tie dye prints. It wouldn’t be Coachella without out favourite celebrities attending in style. We love the fact that at festivals like Coachella you can well and truly wear what your heart desires, no matter how crazy and daring it may be.
Kendall Jenner; queen of cool knows how to work denim hot pants thanks to her model physique while Suki shows us how to wear a bohemian cream midi dress with the new ‘IT’ accessory… the black choker.
Kristina Bazan opted for a ultra lace up crop top with a maxi skirt in a festival star print and with a front split to show off her Californian tan, pairing with a slight heel for desert glam. Emma Roberts wore the perfect low cut baby-doll dress in navy which looked amazing and contrasted with her newly died hair.
This spring summer it’s all about the new loose cropped trousers…the culottes! Whether you are going to a wedding, brunch with some friends or simply just sprucing up you work wear… we have got you covered. Take some style inspiration from these savvy street style bloggers; who know just how to master this tricky trend.
For weddings we suggest you dress your culottes up; therefore keep it simple and sophisticated with a theme. Throw in a splash of colour in the form of a bag or shoes to show your fun side; I mean weddings are supposed to be about happiness!
At the weekend it’s nice to dress down and keep it casual; culottes can look amazing paired with a simple patterned tee and some flats for that extra comfort. Keep the colours simple and try a monochrome colour scheme for that ideal chic weekend look.
Finding your perfect work-wear style can be tricky but with a pair of smart culottes you will soon be rocking that office space. Try a pop of colour and compliment it with a patterned bag, pairing with some heels for edge and make sure the heel is thick for comfort!
WE LOVE a bit of fashion week street chic when it comes around and what better way to see what our favourite bloggers/socialites are wearing and what it is that the trend forecasts are brewing.
Think Commes De Gargon stripes paired with dark denim jeans and tan accessories and there you have the Parisian look nailed on the head. We are a sucker for a striped tee and in love with the versatility of such a piece that us women just have to have one…maybe two… maybe three (you know where I’m going with this!) Ted Baker are all about the patterns this year including a beautiful rainbow striped t-shirt, perfect for adding a bit of colour into your look! American Vintage are also renown for their simple pieces, including several casual striped t-shirts.
All white can be a tricky trend to master; as you don’t want to end up looking too washed out and therefore throwing in a contrasting colour such as nude, or even a splash of red or pink can make the all white outfit stand out even more. White trousers will be the ‘it’ thing to wear this spring/summer, and we aren’t talking about the skinny fit this year. Try Ted’s white flared Culottes on for size if you are after a wearable high waisted trouser perfect for dressing up with heels and dressing down with sneakers. Perhaps a asymmetrical shirt with white jeans will be your go to white outfit to show off your inner diva.
We love the girly check print this season, and shows off sophistication and overall a cuteness overload. Ted Baker has shown they are the masters of this trend this season with their range of designs with the check print such as the sleeveless tunic dress which features a super pretty large flower on the chest to contrast with the all over check design.
We all love a bit of animal print; the way it makes us feel like a rock chick and how it can make a simple black outfit go from basic to daring! The key thing to remember about this trend is that it’s best to keep the patterns to a minimal, keep it plain and then throw in a splash of animal print in the form of a pair of shoes, a dress or a shirt. We can promise that this trend will always make a bold statement no matter where you are!
The animal print dress:
This amazing Religion dress is one of our favourite new arrivals. The grungy feel that comes along with the brands clothes gives it an element of rock chick and paired with some heeled ankle boots and a tough leather jacket will give you that much needed edge. Keep the accessories simple and try a black torque style necklace.
The snake print top:
If you don’t want to have an all-over animal print item then this Michael Kors sweatshirt is the perfect subtle animal print piece for you. With the contrasting sleeves to give it that element of detail, this would look great with some ripped skinny jeans and a buckled coat to create an altogether softer animal print look.
The show-stopping heels:
These Sam Edelman ‘Dea’ shoes are the number 1 party shoes to create a sexy and wild outfit. The cheetah print is bold and therefore stick with a little black dress, or even a pair of loose black trousers and a black top for a perfect party outfit. Go a little crazy with accessories for this one if you are feeling a little more daring.
When the Ted Baker wrap up coats came through the doors, everybody at Thackeray’s fell in love with them. The variety of colours ranging from camel to black and the effortless look they give off, that is so glamorous and elegant that when you put them on they really do make you feel like a lady.
The Vasna trench coat in the beautiful dark green shade is lightweight and features a wrap around waist belt. The gold detailing gives you this military feel and would be the ideal coat for autumn, paired with some light denim jeans and boots for during the day!
For something a little bit warmer, then the Lorili coat in camel will do you just fine. The high funnel neck gives it this sophistication and the wrap around belt means that when it does get cold you can wear it snug for extra warmth. The colour is soft and will be the perfect versatile piece to match with jeans during the day, and a fitted dress and heels at night.
