Have you ever flicked through the pages of Vogue and wondered why it is that so many women look impeccably well dressed on the streets of many of the top cities around the world? Style graces these cities, especially London, Paris, Milan and New York… which is no surprise when they are the locations of the worlds biggest Fashion Week. No matter how edgy or how sophisticated your dress code is, it’s as if these places except individuality, allowing women to dress freely without the scorn of people thinking ‘What are they wearing!’. Here at Thackeray’s we like to brace the unique and give people a chance to dress how they want to, of course with a few little tips and hints about what it is that makes an impact in the fashion world.
The Boyish Trend: We see a lot of this on the streets, where women wear oversized blazers and clumpy shoes… almost as if they are dressing like a man. But we absolutely love the vibes that come with this, and printed t-shirts that make it look so cool and effortless.
The Biker Look: We all love a good leather jacket, which is why we see a lot of them around. The great thing is that they go with everything and can add an essence of edge to an outfit.
The Snug Coat and Dress Combo: Nothing beats a good patterned dress and pairing it with a beautiful soft coat for warmth, especially in the winter when you want to dress up yet still look glamorous. Pairing with some killer heels for even more sophistication.
When the Ted Baker wrap up coats came through the doors, everybody at Thackeray’s fell in love with them. The variety of colours ranging from camel to black and the effortless look they give off, that is so glamorous and elegant that when you put them on they really do make you feel like a lady.
‘Vasna’ Trench Coat:
The Vasna trench coat in the beautiful dark green shade is lightweight and features a wrap around waist belt. The gold detailing gives you this military feel and would be the ideal coat for autumn, paired with some light denim jeans and boots for during the day!
For something a little bit warmer, then the Lorili coat in camel will do you just fine. The high funnel neck gives it this sophistication and the wrap around belt means that when it does get cold you can wear it snug for extra warmth. The colour is soft and will be the perfect versatile piece to match with jeans during the day, and a fitted dress and heels at night.
Yes we know we haven’t even made it to winter yet, and already we are discussing spring/summer 16 but we can’t help it when fashion week left us in utter excitement over the trends to master next year.
Think ditsy dairy prints but more. The floral trend is set to live through another summer; I mean we just can’t get rid of it when it really highlights the season and puts you in the summer mood. Next year we are going to be wearing bolder floral prints as well as prints that clash.
The Burberry show really taught us why we want to be rocking dark prints and capes next SS16. We like to think of capes as a versatile piece that allows us to feel much more high fashion; regardless of the price. Military detail will grace the capes next year, making them even better than ever.
Pop Art Prints:
This may not be every ones cup of tea, purely due to the fact the prints are daring and will without a doubt catch peoples eyes. The idea behind the trend is to wear the statement print as either a top or trousers, think less is more.
In the Hunters show patchwork bomber jackets created a subtle sporty look, and this will be our go to jacket come spring next year. Rather than just sticking with the classic black zipped bomber, more colours and materials will appear in stores.
