It seems the recent Royal resurgence is showing no signs of slowing down after the unveiling of a glamourous new exhibition at Kensington Palace. Fashion Rules showcases the exquisite dresses worn by members of the Royal family.
Aiming to take a nostalgic look back through the decades, the elegant displays show dresses belonging to three Royal women in the time they appeared to be at their most stylish; the 1950s tiny nipped in waisted gowns belonging to HM Queen Elizabeth II, the more liberal shorter skirts and sheerer fabrics of the 60s and 70s belonging to Princess Margaret. And not forgetting the sparkles and shoulder pads of the late Princess Diana whose dresses are synonymous with the fashions of the 1980s.
Five rooms of stunning creations including, 21 couture dresses, show how these women reflected trends despite the restrictions and expectations that come with a very royal wardrobe!
And while we’re all in anticipation of the arrival of the Royal baby, exhibition curator Cassie David has revealed hopes to one day display outfits belonging to the Duchess of Cambridge. At present, Kate is simply too new to the Royal family and most of her outfits are still part of her personal wardrobe, ready to be re-worn in true Kate style.
Fashion Rules will run until Summer 2015.
