No Jeans Please, it’s a Wedding

Hollywood starlet Kristen Stewart was recently snapped at a friend’s wedding wearing…jeans! The offending item sent the fashion press into a finger-wagging frenzy, with some labelling her as obnoxious while Grazia pondered, “Surely it’s only good manners to break away from your off-duty fashion formula and go a little fancy?”

And as much as I can appreciate Kristen’s take on effortless glamour, it’s a global fact that jeans at a wedding are a sartorial no-no. Remember Britney Spears’ Vegas wedding? Enough said.

So while wedding season is in full swing, so is our sale! Make the most of the generous discounts and head over to dresses where you will be sure to find plenty of choice to be the best-dressed guest, from the ever-reliable Ted Baker to loud and lovely Olivia Rubin. It’s also worth a mention that all sale dresses, shoes and bags are now 50% off!

Don’t make the same mistake as K-Stew. I can only imagine the whispers about her in the line for the buffet!

Stone Island’s 30th Anniversary

It’s a big year for Stone Island, as the Italian brand celebrates its 30th anniversary.

It’s been three decades since legendary designer Massimo Osti first showcased a collection of seven military-inspired jackets back in 1982. And with the help of director Carlo Rivetti, Stone Island has been able to push for constant innovation and experimentations with dyes, materials and manufacturing techniques. Thackerays were one of the original stockists of the brand and it is because of this cutting edge approach that Stone Island is still one of our most popular today.

Stone Island has planned a year of commemorative events to mark the occasion starting with an anniversary exhibition in Florence. We were lucky enough to be invited to the opening night alongside Carlo Rivetti and the exhibition was an impressive showcase of over 200 select pieces from Stone Island’s archives between 1982 and today.

And Thackerays are one of only a handful of retailers who have been permitted to buy into the 30th anniversary collection including a replica of the original “Tela Stella” jacket. These pieces, due to arrive in store and online soon, are guaranteed to be highly collectible and sell out fast — watch this space!

In this video, Carlo Rivetti talks us through Stone Island’s plans for their 30th year, including a preview of some of the anniversary collection pieces:
